I'm spending Sunday at MuralFest, and I want you there with me.

The Box Shop on Hudson Ave has been building big art in the Bayview for more than twenty years. Over 140 original murals live on those walls, the largest collection in the city, and a lot of them were painted by our own neighbors. This Fall the shop moves to a new site, so most of these murals are coming down. This is one of the last chances to see them where they belong, in our neighborhood, before they go.

Founder Charlie Gadeken is also releasing a book that documents the whole collection, so you can flip through it and take a piece of this history home.

Come for the live music, the open studios, the sculpture garden, and the hands-on art tables. Bring your kids. Bring a neighbor. This is what Southeast San Francisco makes when we invest in our own talent, and it's worth showing up for.
