Janitors Union Joins United Food and Commercial Workers and Stage Employees in Backing Campaign
(San Francisco, CA) – Today, Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 87–the Janitor’s union–endorsed Theo Ellington for District 10 Supervisor.
“When San Francisco’s downtown workforce ends their shift, our janitors are just beginning, powering the buildings, businesses, and systems that keep San Francisco’s economy running. I’m proud to earn this endorsement and proud to stand in solidarity with the men and women who keep the city we love moving forward each and every day,” said Theo Ellington. “As Supervisor, I will fight to make sure they are respected, protected, and paid what they deserve.”
Leading San Francisco labor unions are uniting behind Ellington’s campaign. SEIU, Local 87 joins the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), Local 648, and The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), Local 16 in endorsing Ellington for Supervisor.
Ellington’s growing endorsements list also includes Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis, State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Congressmembers Kevin Mullin and Lateefah Simon, Senator Scott Wiener, Assemblymember Catherine Stefani, former Mayor London Breed, Supervisors Stephen Sherrill, Matt Dorsey, and Danny Sauter, and community leaders from every neighborhood in San Francisco’s District 10.
